Jen Ward

Jen Ward has been practicing law since 2006. She is licensed to practice in Arizona and advises tax-exempt organizations on federal tax and employment matters nationwide. Over the course of her career, Jen has practiced with a large regional law firm, a nonprofit membership-based employers’ association and as a solo practitioner.

Representative experience includes:

  • ERISA and employee benefits matters
  • Representing plan sponsors of retirement and welfare benefit plans in IRS and DOL audits
  • Certified human resources professional
  • Reviewing employment agreements, non-compete agreements and severance agreements
  • Reviewing and advising on employer policies, including disability and medical leave
  • Advice regarding documentation and drafting claims with government agencies (including the EEOC, ACRD, NLRB and DOL)
  • Employee handbook preparation and review
  • Advice regarding performance management and termination of employment
  • Defense against wage and hour, discrimination, and other claims

Jen takes pride in ensuring the advice that she provides to clients is not only legally compliant, but also recognizes the crucial role that each organization’s workforce plays in helping achieve its mission. Her guidance helps her clients manage legal risk while growing and developing their employees to help strengthen their team.

Jen believes that, as humans, we have a responsibility to care for one another, and loves supporting nonprofit organizations and philanthropists who are each fulfilling that responsibility in their own unique way. Outside of work, Jen enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, reading and practicing yoga.
